About the Amara Trio
For performers still in their 20’s, the Amara Trio has been making beautiful music for quite some time.
Violinist Christina Jihee Nam debuted as a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony at age 9. Cellist Nagyeom Jang won the Grand Prize in the Little Mozarts division of the Crescendo International Competition at age 8. And at 17, Pianist Kevin Janssen won grand prize in the International Shining Star Competition — in both piano and violin.
Winner of the 2024 Chesapeake chamber Music Competition, the Amara Trio was formed at the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival during the summer of 2023. What ensued was some of the most meaningful artistic and personal experiences of their lives, stemming from a deep love both for the music they played, for each other and from the unbridled joy found in sharing this with those around them.
Since Kneisel Hall, The Amara Trio has performed in Prior-Jollek Hall in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Paul Hall at the Juilliard School. The trio is passionate about community engagement and often share their love of music in the Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York and retirement homes in New York and New Jersey.
The Amara Trio is continuing their studies at the Juilliard School as an Honors Chamber Group, under the guidance of Laurie Smukler and Joel Krosnick.
We’re thrilled to present these artists in the early days of their already dazzling careers.
